Abulfas Garayev: â€œTourism and culture exchange between Azerbaijan and Iraq is possibleâ€

Azerbaijan Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev received Iraqi Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Kahtan Abbas Noman al-Juburi, who visited Baku to attend the 8th Azerbaijan International Tourism Exhibition. According to APA, the ministers held negotiations over the cooperation in the field of culture and tourism. Minister Garayev highly appreciated the Iraqi support to Azerbaijan in Nagorno Karabakh problem. â€œWe have a lot of talks during your four-day visit and you will have opportunity to know historic monuments of Azerbaijan and its achievements in the field of culture and tourism. The tourism and culture exchange between Azerbaijan and Iraq is possible. Today Iraq enters the new period leaving very hard history in the past. We will support you in restoration of historic monuments and construction of cultural and tourism facilities in Iraq. We can assist you with technical equipments and involving our experts in your projects. The tomb of great Turkic poet Mohammad Fuzuli is in Iraq and the Iraqi land is valuable for every Azerbaijaniâ€.

Garayev noted that it is important to cooperate with Iraq in the field of tourism and protection of historic monument. â€œTwo protocols will be prepared within four months. During your next visit, we will sign cooperation protocols. We will initiate the programs for Iraqi students in the Azerbaijani tourism schoolsâ€. The Iraqi minister expressed satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan. He said they appreciate Azerbaijan and its people and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation for strengthening of this brotherhood. â€œWe hope that Azerbaijan and Iraq will continue their cooperation in the field of culture and tourism. We will work for the development of experience exchange between the countries. We intend to spread the Azerbaijani experience in Iraq and Iraqi experience in Azerbaijan, to organize special groups to visit Azerbaijan for internship. We signed the protocols with many Arab countries and we intend to sign such protocols with Azerbaijan tooâ€. Iraqi Ambassador to Azerbaijan Arshad Ismayil Omar also attended the meeting.
