"Approximately 3 billion people face water scarcity, and 90 percent of disasters, including droughts and fires, are water-related," Inger Andersen, executive director of the United Nations Environment Program, said this during his speech at the high-level opening event "Promoting the Water Lifeline for Climate, Nature and People" held within COP29, APA reports.
"We need to take very serious action, and water-related actions must be part of these efforts. To ensure long-term sustainability and sustainability of water resources, NDCs must include water resources management measures and take into account environmental and climate perspectives," she underlined.
