"Pakistan has committed to obtaining 60 percent of its total energy demand from environmentally clean sources," Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, said at the presentation event of world leaders themed "Adverse Impacts of Climate Change on the Decline of Water Basins", APA reports.
He also stated that the outcomes of the COP27, COP28, and COP29 climate summits held under the UN framework must be implemented, and agreements must be fulfilled: "For climate change measures to be successful, first and foremost, the commitments made in Paris 10 years ago must be fulfilled. The people of Pakistan are hardworking and responsible. We have committed to meeting 60 percent of our total energy demand from environmentally clean sources. However, to achieve this, our country needs international support. Developing countries need over $6 trillion in funding to meet their obligations. I believe that under Azerbaijan's leadership, COP29 will become a financial summit. Two years ago, we said that the future will not forgive our inaction."
