A ministerial meeting of the Food and Agriculture for Sustainable Transformation (FAST) partnership was held in Baku within the framework of COP29, APA reports.
At the event, FAST partnership members and stakeholders shared their experiences and lessons learned on the importance of strengthening cooperation to accelerate climate finance for the transformation of agri-food systems, with a special focus on vulnerable groups.
Opening the event with an opening speech, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said that through FAST, a holistic approach is being established to ensure that climate solutions in agri-food systems are both effective and comprehensive.
New Zealand’s Climate Change Ambassador Stuart Horne thanked the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the FAST Working Group, FAO and the FAST Partnership Co-Chairs, Azerbaijan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, in his speech, and said:
“New Zealand is proud to be a member of the FAST Board and is delighted to support the initiative’s progress at COP27, the launch of the FAST Partnership at COP28 and a really well-established work programme at COP29. New Zealand first joined FAST because it saw the real value in its aim of advocating and coordinating action across COPs on agri-food systems."
