“Azerbaijan is demonstrating its goal of transforming cities into sustainable ecosystems through multilateral cooperation by bringing together stakeholders within the framework of COP29," Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said this during his speech at the opening of the Third Ministerial Meeting on Urban Planning and Climate Change held within the framework of COP29 today, APA reports.
The Committee Chairman drew attention to initiatives aimed at transforming cities into climate-resilient places, noting that the Multi-Stakeholder Pathways to Action (MAP) for Sustainable and Healthy Cities initiative, presented within the framework of Urbanization Day, brings a new approach to urbanization and climate issues.
“The SURGe initiatives launched at COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh and the CHAMP initiatives launched at COP28 in Dubai have created important platforms for dialogue and collaboration. Today, we are taking them further and introducing the Multi-Stakeholder Pathways to Action (MAP) for Sustainable and Resilient Cities. This platform brings together lessons learned from previous initiatives and brings a new approach to urbanization and climate issues,” added Anar Guliyev.
