“Azerbaijan's COP29 Presidency is committed to ensuring that the voices of all nations, particularly those of those most vulnerable to climate change, are heard in considering the global climate discourse,” said Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and the COP29 Lead Negotiator, APA reports.

He said that prioritizing climate action for developing nations is of utmost importance: “Furthermore, implementing robust monitoring and accountability mechanisms is essential. Transparency and accountability will build trust and ensure that we are making real progress towards our goals. Establishing clear frameworks for monitoring will help us track advancements and adjust strategies as needed. As we move forward, it's imperative that the global energy transition is just and inclusive. The principle of equity is essential to the Paris Agreement and must guide all our actions.”

Yalchin Rafiyev underlined the importance of giving attention and support for developing countries: “Climate finance must be fair, ambitious and effective.”

In conclusion, the road ahead is clear, but not without challenges. We must turn our ambitions into actions and our commitments into achievements.  It's time to move forward together, ensuring that the legacy of COP28, COP29 and COP30 is one of meaningful action and lasting impact. Together, we can keep the roadmap to 1.5 degrees Celsius and global resilience within reach, securing a better future for generations to come,” – he concluded.
