Expanding metro systems in Azerbaijan will contribute to lowering harmful gas emissions, said Rana Humbatova, Deputy Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy, during the second day of the “Baku Climate Action Week” event, APA reports.
She noted that 39% of energy consumption falls on household needs, 31% on transportation, and 15% on construction.
“We plan to increase the number of electric railways and expand metro lines. Such measures will help reduce the amount of emissions,” Humbatova emphasized.
