The number of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia via Finland and the Baltic states has increased, said Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoigu, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, in this case, the article of the UN Charter related to the right of self-defense may be applied.
“Recently, an increase has been observed in the number of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia via Finland and the Baltic states. As a result, civilians are suffering and civilian infrastructure is being seriously damaged.”
He stated that either Western air defense systems are “quite ineffective,” or the aforementioned countries are deliberately allowing their airspace to be used by Ukraine for drone operations: “In other words, they are open participants in aggression against Russia. In the latter case, according to international law, in the event of an armed attack, Article 51 of the UN Charter on the right of self-defense comes into force,” Shoigu noted.
