Russian investigatory committee closes criminal case about execution of Emperor Nikolay II and his family

Moscow – APA. The Investigatory committee of the Russian Federation has closed criminal case about execution of Emperor Nikolay II and his family, APA reports. The lawyer of emperor family Herman Lukjanov told the journalists that the criminal case launched in 1993 has been closed on January 14. The reasons of the closing of the criminal case were not made public. The lawyer didn’t say whether he would file a complaint about the decision of the investigatory committee.


Nikolay II, his spouse and children were sentenced to death by the Presidium of the Ural Council in 1918. A family has been shot on the night of July 17, 1918 in Yekaterinburg. Bodies of the emperor and his relatives have been buried secretly, but in 1991 remains of the majority of the killed have been found and reburied in St.-Petersburg.
