US markets remain low before Memorial Day

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. U.S. markets were closed for Memorial Day. On Friday, the Dow Jones industrial average ended down 14.81 points, or 0.18 per cent, to 8,277.32 and the Nasdaq composite index was down 3.24 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 1,692.01. The S&P/TSX gained 43.83 points, or 0.44 per cent, to close at 9,993.42.

In Frankfurt, Germany’s DAX was down 43.99 points, or 0.89 per cent, to 4, 874.76 at midday. The Paris CAC gained 13.05 points, or 0.40 per cent, to 3,214.
London’s FTSE 100 index was also closed for a holiday, but finished Friday up 19.82 points, or 0.46 per cent to 4,365.29
In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei stock average closed Monday up 121.19 points, or 1. 31 per cent, to 9,347 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gained 59.30 points, or 0. 35 per cent, to 17,121.82.
