Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baqaei, categorically dismissed the recent remarks by the French President regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing them as baseless, contradictory, and diversionary, it was noted on the X account of Iranian MFA, APA reports.
Baqaei called on France to reconsider its unconstructive approaches toward peace and stability in the West Asia region.
He also rejected the French President’s claims regarding Iran’s nuclear program. He reaffirmed that Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities are conducted in full compliance with international regulations and under the strict and ongoing oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He described these allegations as unfounded and hypocritical, particularly coming from a government that has failed to fulfill its own commitments under the JCPOA while playing a key role in enabling a genocidal regime to acquire nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.
Regarding the repeated allegation of Iranian involvement in the Ukraine conflict, Baqaei reiterated Iran’s consistent and principled stance advocating for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. He firmly rejected these unfounded accusations, labeling them as irresponsible distortions of reality intended to obscure the destructive roles of key actors in global crises.
Expressing astonishment and regret over the French President’s purported concerns about Iran’s engagement with African countries, Baqaei stated: “Countries with a history of brutal colonialism in Africa are in no position to dictate terms to independent African nations or other sovereign states.”
He stressed that Iran’s relations with African countries are grounded in mutual respect and a commitment to their national sovereignty and political independence. Baqaei noted that these relations are based on the Principles of International Law Concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation Among States in Accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, aimed at achieving shared benefits and mutual interests.
