Taiwanese presidential spokesperson Chang Tun-han, said military confrontation with mainland China cannot be an option for either side of the Taiwan Strait, APA reports citing Teletrader.
He underscored the need for preserving Taiwan's "territorial sovereignty, democracy and freedom," noting that President Tsai Ing-wen had said Taipei is prepared to work with Beijing on maintaining peace in the region.
Earlier on Sunday, Chinese President Xi Jinping said he will not rule out the use of force in Taiwan, saying his government is prepared to take any measure necessary.
