US President Donald Trump is expected to announce on September 30 South Korea’s plan to invest about $200 billion in the United States, with $54 billion potentially allocated to the Alaska LNG project, APA reports.
Bloomberg reported this, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the agency, the project is designed to transport natural gas from Alaska and export it, primarily to Asian markets, in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The project includes the construction of an approximately 1,200-kilometer gas pipeline as well as an LNG export terminal.
Bloomberg noted that the project’s high cost and scale have complicated its implementation. South Korean investment is expected to support the construction of both the pipeline and the export terminal.
Trump may announce on September 30 the first projects to receive support under the investment plan agreed with Seoul, according to the report.
