“Negotiations with Israel do not mean a sign of weakness or concession; on the contrary, they are aimed at ending the war,” stated Lebanese President Joseph Aoun during a meeting with a delegation of MPs and municipal heads representing the Jezzine region, APA reports.
According to him, the decision to participate in the talks is intended to achieve peace after decades of war, death, and destruction, on the condition that attacks cease, Israeli troops withdraw, and prisoners are returned.
He also called on Lebanese citizens to stand by the government during this process.
The President noted that despite protests and concerns voiced by Hezbollah and its supporters, unity must be demonstrated in the interest of the country.
