The government of Kazakhstan has decided to switch to a single time zone from March 1, 2024. According to the government decree, the entire territory of the republic will be transferred to the 5th time zone (UTC+5), APA reports citing Kazpravda.kz.
At present time, there are two time zones in Kazakhstan: UTC+5 and UTC+6. Most of the country, with the exception of the western regions, is located in the UTC+6 zone.
The transition to a single time zone will eliminate time barriers between residents of different regions of Kazakhstan, improve the coordination of transport and other communications, and will have a beneficial effect on doing business, interaction between government agencies and emergency services.
