Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters that the Japanese government is asking companies not to agree to pay for Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in rubles if they receive relevant demands, APA reports citing Sputnik.
"There are no reports to the press that existing deals with Japanese companies for the supply of LNG from Russia would fall under the requirement to convert into rubles. Nonetheless, if such demands are accepted, the Japanese government would like to ask businesses not to consent to such conditions," he said.
