Japan's Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his country's readiness to initiate negotiations on security cooperation with Ukraine, the Associated Press said on Saturday, APA reports.
During the meeting, Hayashi reportedly also affirmed Japan's ongoing support for Ukraine and its commitment to imposing sanctions against Russia in coordination with the Group of Seven (G7) countries.
His comments come after Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expressed Kyiv's optimism about future collaboration with Tokyo.
