The US naval blockade against Iran should be considered a violation of the ceasefire, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said at a press conference, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.
He stated that although the United States makes statements about being ready for negotiations, its behavior demonstrates a lack of serious intent in the diplomatic process.
According to Baghaei, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the attack on an Iranian vessel should be regarded as violations of the ceasefire.
He emphasized that Iran makes its decisions carefully and with consideration of national interests: “We cannot forget last year’s costly experience. The United States betrayed diplomacy twice and caused the deaths of many prominent individuals by attacking Iran. It is our duty to remain vigilant against the enemy’s plans in diplomacy.”
The spokesperson noted that the United States continues to insist on unrealistic and unfounded positions it has previously tested.
Baghaei added that the only reason for the incidents in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is the actions of the United States and Israel: “Until their actions, the Strait of Hormuz was safe. Therefore, the international community should hold them accountable for the situation in this region.”
