“The issue is in the stage of investigation. Those who were arrested over this case have been accused of spying, conspiracy, collusion, and operating against the security of the country,” said Masud Setayeshi, Iran’s judiciary spokesperson at the press conference held today while talking about the arrested French citizens, APA reports citing ISNA.
According to him, strategic information was obtained from the accused persons: “The investigation of the issue is still on the agenda of judicial authorities. Investigation work is conducted.”
Ministry official commented on the issue occurred in the Evin prison.
He stressed that the case was filed in the Tehran Persecutor-General’s Office, criminals were detected and charges are made against them: “The issue is investigated and its results will be announced. Although some prisoners attempted to escape from jail, no one could break out of the Evin. 8 people killed as a result of the incident and criminal case opened against 25 people”.
Ministry’s spokesperson noted that court proceedings have been started due to the imprisonment regarding the unrests of the Iran: “Mainly, Tehran, Alburz, Kurdistan, Isfahan were the most active in these unrests. The cases have been forwarded from Prosecutor’s Office to courts. The students who were arrested during the last protests, were released and only few of them are still in the prison.”
