CSTO exercises in Kyrgyzstan postponed to a later date

The CSTO exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood” in Kyrgyzstan have not been canceled, but postponed to a later date. This was stated by Secretary of the Kyrgyz Security Council Marat Imankulov, informs media headquarters under the government of the republic, APA reports citing Trending News Buzzer.

Nothing like this. We really need the CSTO. It provides a full guarantee against terrorist threats and meets the interests of the national security of our country. In social networks, some forces are trying to push us against the members of the CSTO. Nothing will come of them. We don’t have any disagreements.” — Imankulov said.

According to him, the CSTO leadership was sympathetic to the decision of Kyrgyzstan to postpone the October exercises in Issyk-Kul.

At the same time, on October 10, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov declaredthat the exercises were canceled and this was done because of the recent armed conflict with Tajikistan. “But, of course, in the light of recent events, the blood has not cooled down … The situation has developed in such a way that the public opinion of Kyrgyzstan will not welcome the same elements of the armed units of our Tajik neighbors to be present at these exercises,” he said.

October 9 “Sputnik Kyrgyzstan» informedthat the Ministry of Defense of the Republic decided to cancel the command and staff exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood – 2022”, which were to be held at the Edelweiss training ground from October 10 to 14.

The peacekeeping contingents of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan were involved in the event. Observers from Uzbekistan, Serbia, Syria, Turkmenistan and Mongolia were also invited to the exercise. Exercises with the CSTO peacekeeping forces “Indestructible Brotherhood” have been held as part of joint training since 2012.
