China supports the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) efforts to maintain nuclear safety in Ukraine, the country's permanent representative to the United Nations said on Monday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
China is pledging €200,000 to the agency's technical assistance to Ukraine, he added.
Beijing also said it is ready to work alongside IAEA "to promote global development and nuclear safety and security." Earlier on Monday, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed hope that an agreement on the status of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant can still be reached, denying that the negotiations have reached a deadlock.
