In response to the United States’ sale of large-scale weapons to Taiwan, China has imposed sanctions on a number of American defense companies and their executives, APA reports citing China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the official statement from Beijing, the U.S. action “seriously violates the ‘One China’ principle and the China–U.S. joint communiqués, interferes in China’s internal affairs, and undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Under the decision, all movable and immovable assets in China of 20 U.S. defense companies, including Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and L3Harris Maritime Services, will be frozen. Organizations and individuals operating in China are prohibited from any cooperation or transactions with these companies.
In addition, sanctions have been imposed on 10 high-ranking executives. Their assets in China will be frozen, any cooperation with China is prohibited, and they will be denied entry into the country.
The sanctions came into effect today under the corresponding decree of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
