The second and final solar eclipse of this year has begun, the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi told APA.
It is a total solar eclipse.
The solar eclipse will end at 23:57 Baku time.
The maximum phase will occur at 21:46.
During the eclipse, which is expected to last approximately five hours in total, the solar disk will be completely obscured for about seven minutes.
The total phase of the eclipse will be visible along a path passing through Iceland, Spain, northwestern Portugal, Greenland, as well as the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. The partial solar eclipse will be visible across much of Europe, some regions of North America, part of the Pacific Ocean, and northwestern Africa.
Like the first solar eclipse of the year, the final solar eclipse will not be visible from Azerbaijan. The last solar eclipse visible from Azerbaijan was the partial solar eclipse that occurred on October 25, 2022. The next observable eclipse will occur on August 2, 2027. Although this will be a total solar eclipse, only the partial phase will be visible from Azerbaijan, as the country will be outside the path of totality.
