At least 200 Israelis killed, more than 1,100 wounded in Hamas surprise attack-UPDATED-1

At least 200 Israelis have been killed in the attacks launched by the Palestinian Hamas movement, Israel’s N12 News said on Saturday, APA reports.

The health ministry said more than 1,100 Israelis have been wounded in the attacks.

Hamas launched the biggest attack on Israel in years in a surprise assault that combined gunmen crossing into Israel with a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza.

Israeli media is reporting that at least 40 Israelis have been killed so far, with a further 740 people wounded by the attacks on Israel, APA reports citing Sky News.

The figures come from Israel's N12 news channel, which brought accurate figures earlier - but no official confirmation has yet surfaced.

The latest official figures count 22 Israeli deaths and a further 545 injured.

According to latest information, at least 22 people have been killed, and more than 300 people were injured since the start of the massive attack by the Hamas terror group, APA reports citing the Times of Israel.

In addition, more than 2,000 rockets have been fired at the center and south. The assault has been ongoing since approximately 6:30 a.m.

Note that Israel was subjected to massive rocket barrages from the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, combined with an assault by dozens of gunmen who infiltrated the border town of Sderot, clashing with Israel Defense Force troops.
