Binyamin Netanyahu can become Israelâ€™s Prime Minister

Tel Aviv -APA. Leader of Israelâ€™s Likud Party Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to become Prime Minister. President Shimon Peres will complete his consultations with party representatives on Thursday night, and come to a decision on whether to charge Foreign Minister and Kadima chair Tzipi Livni or Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu with the task of forming the next government, APA reports quoting The Jerusalem Post. On Thursday morning, after a week of keeping his cards very close to his chest, Israel Beiteinu (â€œIsrael â€“ Our Homeâ€) chairman Avigdor Lieberman on Thursday arrived at the President’s Residence and revealed that his party would endorse Netanyahu for prime minister. Lieberman, however, conditioned his recommendation on the formation of a broad government that will include Kadima, but said that he was opposed to a rotation at the helm of the government.
According to the results of last parliamentary election in Israel, Kadima won 28, Likud -27, Israel Beiteinu â€“ 15 seats in the parliament. It needs at least 61 votes in 120-seat parliament to form the government.
