Pakistan, U.S. hold talks on terrorist financing

Baku-APA. Senior Pakistani and American officials have concluded talks on "disrupting sources of terrorist financing to terrorist organizations", the U.S. embassy said here on Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes Luke Bronin consulted senior Pakistani finance, banking, and security officials during his two- day visit to Pakistan, a U.S. embassy statement said.

Bronin also met with Minister of Interior Rehman Malik, Minister of Finance Hafeez Shaikh, and senior officials from the Federal Investigation Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

On Thursday, Bronin visited Karachi and met with leaders from the State Bank of Pakistan as well as private banks.

Bronin also emphasized the importance of implementing UN 1267 Committee sanctions on terrorists and terrorist entities, and the international sanctions effort against Iran, the statement said.

He also visited Afghanistan last week and held talks with Afghan officials and bank representatives in order to curb terrorist financing.
