Khamenei criticizes UN Security Councilâ€™s activity in NAM Tehran Summit

Baku. Konul Jafarli â€“ APA. â€œWe assembled here in order to give new impulse and to intensify the Non-Aligned Movementâ€™s activityâ€, said Iranâ€™s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran.

Criticizing the politics of Western countries, the system and activity of the UN Security Council, Khamenei denounced inequality between different nations in nuclear issues: â€œThe founders of Non-Aligned Movement made this step to protect their countries from the influence and intervention by other countries. Therefore this movement is effective today. Islam teaches us that all people have same character in spite of color and race differences. Our religion calls us for purity, fairness, kindness and to share othersâ€™ sorrow. Such characteristics make the people closer to tawhid.â€

President of Egypt Mohammad Mursi also delivered a speech after Khamenei. He will hand over the NAM presidency to his Iranian counterpart.
