5 killed in suicide blast in Quetta, Pakistan

Baku-APA. At least five people were killed in a suicide blast that took place in the wee hours of Saturday morning in Pakistan’s southwest city of Quetta, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Security officials, who requested anonymity, told Xinhua reporters in the city that the five killed include four members of Frontier Corps (FC), a paramilitary force in Pakistan, and one suicide bomber.

The blast took place at about 1:00 a.m. when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a car while approaching to a FC vehicle on the Qambrani Road in Quetta, capital city of Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan province.

In another development, local media Express reported that 10 people were killed by unknown gunmen in separate incidents in the country’s southern port city of Karachi late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Five people were killed in New Karachi while another five were shot dead in the Disco More area of the city, said the report, adding all the victims were ordinary citizens busy with shopping for the coming Eid holiday in the market areas when they were shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, a bomb hit a bus in Karachi, killing at least one person and wounding over 20 others. Prior to this, a market in Pakistan’s northwest tribal area of Kurram was hit by a remote-controlled bomb, wounding at least 13 people.
