Baku-APA. Five people were injured at dawn Thursday when Syrian shells hit several Lebanese towns in the northern district of Akkar and the eastern Bekaa valley near the border with Syria, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

A security source told Xinhua that clashes occurred between the Syrian army and gunmen in the Lebanese side of the border and heavy machine guns were used while the Syrian army used mortar shells.

It added that 37-year-old Khodr Naji was injured in the eye from shrapnel after a shell landed near his house in Akkar’s al- Dousa.

The three children were wounded in the eastern town of al- Tufail in Baalbek.

The Lebanese army began on Tuesday sending troop reinforcements to the border with Syria after the deadly incidents.
