Turkey reiterates travel warning for Syria

Baku-APA. Turkey on Tuesday issued a travel warning on Syria for Turkish citizens due to the problems experienced by Turkish citizens in Syria, an official statement said, APA reports.

Turkey received information from Turkish citizens about difficulties they encountered after entering Syria for various reasons, said the statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Turkey has indicated recently that travelling by land in Syria poses threats to Turkish citizens and brings security concerns, said the statement, adding that unless a must, Turkey recommends that Turkish citizens do not travel by land in Syria and advices Turkish citizens in Syria to return to Turkey.

Turkey has learned that Turkish citizens who had to enter Syria met with serious problems, said the statement.

Turkey, once a close ally of Syria, has imposed a series of sanctions, including an arms embargo, due to the Syrian government ’s alleged crackdown on protesters.
