Iran’s President visits Tajikistan

Baku. Konul Jafarli – APA. President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran for Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Saturday morning to participate in the third International Nowruz Celebrations there, APA reports quoting IRNA.

Prior to his departure, President Ahmadinejad told reporters that celebrations on Nowruz will be held annually as the International Nowruz Day has been proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on March 21.

Iran’s President is attending the third Nowruz festival in Tajikistan at the invitation of his Tajik counterpart.

During the past two years, the first and second international celebrations on Nowruz were held in Tehran.

The Iranian President said he is planned to take part in the tripartite meeting between the Presidents of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and also in a meeting with participation of the three countries’ plus Pakistan’s heads to be held on the sidelines of the festival.

Regional developments are the major issues about which the countries’ Presidents are to hold talks, Ahmadinejad told reporters.

He further said he is due to open Iran’s cultural complex in the Tajik capital city of Dushanbe.
