Konul Jafarli â€“ APA. â€œIf the discussions of the West produce no results, Iran will become the greatest threat to the international peace and security,â€ Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper said, APA reports. Touching on the tensions in the Persian Gulf, Prime Minister said there is no doubt that Iran will disrupt peace.

â€œThis is a regime that wants to acquire nuclear weapons, it is clearly trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and it has indicated some desire to actually use nuclear weapons.â€

Harper said the posturing over the Strait or Hormuz only underlines the degree to which Iran is "a serious threat."

Stephen Harper says the sanctions against Iran have serious impact on the countryâ€™s economy.

â€œCanada and its allies are ready to join the sanctions imposed on Iran. Russia and China opposed the sanctions. But after taking into account the threat of this country these countries did not oppose the sanctions,â€ he said.
