Baku-APA. Navy Commander Habibollah Sayyari has announced Iran’s plans to expand the area of next year’s naval drills after lauding the successful completion of the Velayat 90 maneuvers, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Naval maneuvers are meant to display Iran’s defensive capability, power and might in international waters, Admiral Sayyari said on Tuesday.

He went on to say that Iranian naval forces are capable of “locate and find” the country’s enemies, adding that, “We have no fear of the enemies and believe they are vulnerable.”

Regarding the domestically-manufactured Jamaran destroyer, Sayyari said Iran’s navy will continue to produce various kinds of vessels to replace its old ones.

He praised Iranian naval forces for asserting the authority of and demonstrating the might of the country’s navy in international waters and across the globe in the past three years.

The 10-day Velayat 90 naval drill, launched on December 24, 2011, took place in line with a recent directive by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, instructing Iranian Armed Forces to maintain total readiness to defend the nation against any potential threats.
