Baku-APA. The death toll of Typhoon Washin that continues to batter southern Philippines climbs to 14, Philippine disaster official said on Saturday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Benito Ramos, executive director of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), told a local radio station that nine bodies were recovered in the city of Iligan, two in Cagayan de Oro City and three in Polanco City.
Thousands have been evacuated from their homes due to widespread flooding.
The typhoon made landfall in the vicinity of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur Friday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said
