Persons detained during 27 December protests in Iran to stand trial

Baku. Suleyman Farzaliyev â€“ APA. The Bahais detained in connection with the protests on the day of Ashura in Tehran will face trial on December 27, APA reports quoting Farsnews. According to Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dovlatabadi, one of the five defendants accused of anti-government calls will stand trial this week.

He said that person is accused of planning the protests and confrontations on December 27 together with the other four defendants. Arms and munitions were seized in their house.

Dovlatabadi said the arrested persons were Bahais, they received foreign aid.

He said they were arrested as they committed crime, not because they are Bahais.

Abbas Jafari Dovlatabadi said German correspondent of Dubai television detained during the protests in Tehran had been released, Syrian correspondent of the television would be released that day.
