Mehdi Karroubi makes statement on happenings: The present government is crueler than shahâ€™s regime

Karroubi offered his condolences to the people on the occasion of the clashes, as well as to Mir Hossein Mousavi in connection with his nephewâ€™s death.

Karroubi said the peopleâ€™s votes were ignored in the presidential elections, tens of people were killed in the rallies within several months.

He noted that irregularity caused serious damage to people.
â€œHow can we call the attack on the people participating in the ceremony on the occasion of Ashura in Tehran? Those people did not speak against the state,â€ he said.

Karroubi also mentioned the rallies held in the reign of shah.
â€œAt that time on the day of Ashura people held rallies chanting slogans against shah. But shah did not commit such actions, there was respect for the day of Ashura. Now a group of day laborers does not respect anything, they even are not afraid of bloodshed on the day of Ashura. The present government showed that it is a crueler regime than shah,â€ he said.

Karroubi expressed his concern over the happenings and called on everybody to be tolerant.
