On the day of Ashura the opposition supporters chanted “Down with the dictator†- a reference to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and “Khamenei will be overthrownâ€. The police reportedly killed five picketers in Tehran, four in Tabriz, tens of people were wounded, 300 arrested. The authorities say four of the five persons were run over by a car, some fell from the bridge and only one was shot. The representative of the police said tear gas was used against the picketers. Pro-opposition Rah-e-Sabz website reports that three were killed by the security forces. The same website reports that four were killed in Tabriz. Among the dead is Seyid Ali Habibi Mousavi, 35, the nephew of Iran’s opposition leader, former presidential candidate, former Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi.
