Bridge collapse kills 45 in India

Baku – APA. At least 45 people died in a collapse of constructed bridge over the Chambal River in Rajasthan state of India on December 25, APA reports quoting the world news agencies. Most of the victims were laborers working on the bridge.
The bridge was being jointly built by South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Gammon India. Two senior project managers, including a South Korean national, have been arrested on accusations of culpable homicide. The Indian government allocated one million rupi for each of the victims’ families. 100 000 rupi will be given to each of the victims’ families from the federal budget.
Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company filed lawsuit against Gammon India. It intends to receive compensation. Hyundai accused the local contractor for the accident. It claims that exactly the Gammon-controlled part of bridge collapsed.
