Tehran – APA. Iranian opposition reports about second stage of students’ protest action in Tehran. Thousands of supporters of former presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi held a protest action at Tehran’s Sharif University on Tuesday, after they learnt of the visit of Science Minister Kamran Daneshjou, whose ministry is in charge of higher education, APA reports quoting Reuters. Daneshjou ran the Interior Ministry’s election headquarters during Iran’s disputed presidential poll in June. He was appointed science minister earlier this month in hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s new government. The students accused Daneshjou in torturing of oppositionists arrested after the presidential elections. They demanded release of oppositionists from jail and stopping tortures against them. The Iranian government said thousands of people, who were arrested after the elections, were released, but the opposition denied it.
Former presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi also said that he could bring evidences about the tortures and sexual violence against the oppositionists in jail. He demanded the officials to investigate these facts. Karroubi said several oppositionists were killed in the prisons.
