Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan sent a letter to APA concerning the events in Xinjiang-Uighur autonomous province of China on July 5. Innocent civilians and police officers were wounded and killed during the massacres, pogroms, robbery and arsons committed there, said the embassy. “There are facts showing that these crimes were planned and guided outside the country and carried out by the separatists inside the country”.

According to the official statistics to July 10, 184 people, including 137 Han, 46 Uighur and one Huei people were killed during those events. “The facts show that this plan was prepared by the World Uighur Congress led by Rebiah Kadeer and provoked the Uighurs to commit grave crimes. On June 26, Kadeer called emergency meeting and passed three resolutions: to use events in Shaougan to begin unrests, to win support of the world community and to mark June 26 as a day of Kadeer’s jubilee. Kadeer and others gathered in Urumqi for emergency meeting after July 5 and provoked the Uighurs to hold continuous demonstrations, to create confrontations, to make statements abroad, to send foreign journalists to Xinjiang, to hold press conferences and to deepen tensions. On July 7, leaders of the World Uighur Congress Tolkun Essha and Eskartemin made statements like “Urumqi is a start of victory, other regions will also join us and we will turn other cities as well to the battle fields against the Chinese Communist Party”.

The embassy said that markets and transports were re-opened in Urumqi and people and industrial enterprises were provided with opportunity to restore normal life and activity. The situation in the autonomous province was stabilized.
