Tokyo –APA. Japan’s Prime Minister Taro Aso decided to dissolve the lower house of parliament and call for general election, APA reports quoting the world news agencies. The House of Representatives will be dissolved next week and new election will be held on August 8 or 30.
Aso’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) suffered a serious defeat in the local elections on July 12, which led the Prime Minister to the decision to dissolve the parliament. LDP won only 38 and its ally 23 seats in the 144-seat Tokyo assembly, while oppositional Democratic Party won 54 places.
