Baku – APA. Iran has ordered four players to retire from the country’s national soccer team after they held an on-field protest against the presidential elections during a match in Seoul nearly a week ago, APA reports quoting Israel’s Haaretz newspaper. The four players, Captain Mehdi Mahdavikia, 32, star Ali Karimi 31, Hahid Hashemian, 31 and Hussein Kaabi, 24 will never be involved in the national team. They will not be allowed to give interview to mass media. The Iranian national team wore green armbands during a match against South Korea on June 17. Green is associated with the campaign of opposition leader Mir Houssein Mousavi.

After the warning, other players took the field without green armbands in the second half.
