457 protesters arrested during clashes with police in Tehran

Police used water cannon and tear gas to break up the protest action.

The number of casualties was reported during the actions. Law-enforcement officials reported about nearly 40 injured police. They said 34 administrative buildings were damaged.

The protest actions began in Tehran as the results of presidential elections on June 12 were announced. Reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi claimed that he won the elections, but the results were falsified. He called his supporters not to content with the steal of votes. Police fired on the demonstrators during the past protest actions and tens of people were killed. Supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei called on Mousavi to stop the protest actions, but the opposition leader he would struggle until the end and would die on this way if it was necessary.
