The demonstrators attacked the block-post around the Azadi Square in Tehran last night and seven people were shot dead by the government forces, APA reports quoting AFP. The first medical aid sources said eight were killed in the confrontation.
The protest actions began in Tehran when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s 62.63% victory in the June 12 presidential elections was announced. Reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi said the results of elections were falsified and he didn’t recognize it. Ten thousands of Iranians took the streets after the Mousavi’s statement. There were confrontations between the protesters and police in the streets of Tehran.
