The creative team and weaving team of "Azerkhalcha" OJSC, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, "PASHA Holding" and "PMD Projects", are weaving the largest circular hand-woven carpet in the history of world carpet weaving (diameter 22.17 m x 22.17 m), "Azerkhalcha" OJSC told APA.
The magnificent carpet in question is intended for the Shusha Mosque. The main weaving process of the carpet, which belongs to the "Karabakh" group and carries elements of the "Khatai" carpet, takes place in the Ismayilli and Shabran workshops. Work on the khalsa, woven by 150 carpet weavers, began in December last year.
On October 27, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, got acquainted with the weaving process of this magnificent carpet. After getting acquainted with the carpet, Leyla spent time with the weavers and became part of the historical carpet, weaving a loop on it.
For reference, a new and different style loom was also ordered to weave the carpet in its entirety. The two-story loom was specially designed for Azerkhalcha OJSC by a group of specialists invited from Iran.
