As part of the visit of Azerbaijani media representatives to Uzbekistan, journalists visited the "Ichan-Kala" State Museum-Reserve located in the city of Khiva, APA's correspondent dispatched to Khiva reports.
During the visit, the journalists got acquainted with the ancient architectural heritage of Khiva, the work being done to include the city in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List and the preservation of the historical monuments of "Ichan-Kala".
The media representatives were informed that "Ichan-Kala" is considered the ancient center of Khiva and is home to the "Kuhna Ark" fortress, "Juma" mosque, "Islam Khoja" minaret, "Torekhan" palace and other important historical objects.
The journalists also got acquainted with the work of guest houses operating in the reserve, the involvement of local residents in tourism activities and initiatives related to the preservation of cultural heritage.
The visit was organized within the framework of the "Roadmap for the Development of Cooperation in the Media Field between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan".
The purpose of the visit is to learn the historical and cultural potential of Khiva on site, present the region's experience in the field of tourism to the Azerbaijani public, and contribute to further strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
