Azerbaijan to be represented in Cannes lions International Advertising Festival

A representation of Cannes lions International Advertising Festival was opened in Azerbaijan, representative of the festival in Azerbaijan, professor Jahid Hasanov told APA. Azerbaijani will also be represented in the festival that will be held in Cannes in 2008.
â€œThe representation of Cannes lions International Advertising Festival was opened in Azerbaijan after long-lasting talks. The festival is held once a year in the city of Cannes, France, its headquarters is located in London,â€ he said.
Jahid Hasanov said that presentation ceremony of the office will be held in September. Advertising companies, advertising agencies, producers and advertising actors of Azerbaijan will be invited to the event.
â€œCannes festival has been held for 54 years. It was first founded as a film festival. Preview trailers were shown in the framework of the film festival. Since 1967 the festival has been held in Cannes. Advertising festival is held after the film festival is over every year. There are various nominations in the festival, from open air adverts to preview trailers. 25,000 works have been introduced to Cannes from all over the world in 2007. About 40 seminars and scientific conferences are held along with nominations. The company willing to engage in advertising in Azerbaijan applies to the relevant department, the representative may attend courses in the festival. As those who are engaged in advertising, are not professional enough they say â€œthere is no expensive advertising in our country and we can not go to the festival with these advertsâ€. This is of course a pretext. The advertisement worth $10mln. did not win last year, the advertisement made in Belarus and worth $15,000 was awarded gold prize,â€ he said.
Jahid Hasanov said that Azerbaijan will introduce various advertisements by May 10 next year and he will participate in the meeting regarding the festival on October 29-31.
â€œRepresentatives from 51 countries will participate in the meeting. There were representations in 50 countries, Azerbaijan is the 51st in the Caucasus,â€ he said. /APA/
