Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism Minister holds press conference on results of 6 months of year

Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev today held a press conference on the results of first half of 2007, APA reports.
Garayev said that the head of the state issued nearly 40 issues and decrees in the field of culture and tourism within 6 months of the year. The Minister appreciated Gobustan Historical Cultural Preserve’s inclusion into UNESCO’s World Heritage, opening Azerbaijani stand in world exhibition held in Venice and Azerbaijan’s participation in jazz festival held in Montre as important events.
Mr.Garayev stressing that reconstructions in several theatres continue successfully stated that State Puppet Theatre named after Abdulla Shaig will be opened in December, 2007, State Russian Drama Theatre named after Samad Vurgun and Azerbaijan State Theatre of Young Spectators will be opened next year.
The Minister saying that reconstructions are being held in library field stated that new projects will be implemented in this field. Club system in the libraries will be improved. He stated that they will appeal to the head of the state for the reconstruction of monuments, memorial complexes and bas-relieves.
“Monuments can not be destructed. If the monument has been established, we should preserve it,” he said.
Garayev also commented on the progress in the field of tourism.
“The number of tourists who visit Azerbaijan increased by 11.9% compared with the first half of 2006. We are cooperating with tourism companies of Europe and CIS countries. 22 permitted establishments are being constructed in Azerbaijan today. The construction of establishments which are not agreed with us will be destructed,” he said. /APA/
