Baku-APA. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Tuesday announced the appointment of Abdoulaye Mar Dieye of Senegal as the Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), APA reports quoting Reuters.
"Dieye will replace Tegegnework Gettu, who has taken up his new appointment as Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly Affairs and Conference Management," said an announcement.
The UN chief also lauded Gettu for his "dedication and commitment" during his term at the UNDP.
The newly appointed Dieye comes to the position with a list of accomplishments within UNDP, including his most recent position as Chief of Staff and Director of the Executive Office.
Prior to this post, Dieye served as the Deputy Regional Director, Regional Bureau for Arab States, New York, overseeing UNDP program portfolios in Northern Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf Countries.
In addition, Dieye has served as the deputy special representative of the secretary-general and UN Operations in Cote d'Ivoire.
