The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) stated Friday that the spying charges issued by Russia against reporter Evan Gershkovich were "categorically false," APA reports citing Teletrader.
"We've seen media reports indicating Evan has been charged. As we've said from the beginning, these charges are categorically false and unjustified, and we continue to demand Evan's immediate release," the WSJ said in a statement.
According to an early report by TASS, Gershkovich was officially charged and pleaded not guilty to those charges. The source added that the reporter "categorically denied all accusations" and insisted he was "engaged in journalistic activities in Russia."
